| We are pleased to find
these well made bow rakes produced since 1841 by the Rugg Company
of Greenfield, Mass. These rakes are light and efficient. All use
a strong, steel ferrule to attach the head to the wooden handle. Steel
bows running from the ferrule to the head give added support and shock
absorption for the head. The heads and handles are made from select
hardwood. The teeth are ash. |
 |
Head, bows, and ferrule come as a unit that easily
snaps onto the handle. Assembly instructions are included. Each
rake comes with four spare 3/8” diameter teeth. Extra spare
teeth are available in packages of 10 at $7 per pkg..
With care, these rakes will last a lifetime. At Shore Road Farm
we use them to rake small rocks from the garden, mark seed rows,
smooth garden beds and rows, work in seeds for large area plantings,
break up light clods of dirt, rake leaves and brush. And of course
we use them to gather hay and grass.

Standard Hay Rake
28” head, 60” handle, overall length approximately
6 feet, weight 2.7 lbs. The teeth in this rake are 3-3/4”
long and spaced 2” apart making it perfect for gathering
new mown grass or cured hay. The tooth spacing makes it easy
to set the teeth into the hay but they are close enough so very
little hay is missed. This rake works well for grading garden
beds and rows. It will also nicely gather leaves and lawn clippings.
If you are looking for a lawn rake to clean up after your rotary
or reel mower try our #6039 below. It will do a better job at
short grass.
