NEWS & EVENTS

Here it is May again and we are anxiously waiting green grass; green anything, after this long, old fashioned Maine winter. "It were a good-un, Bert." Deep, deep snow from early December through March with bankings under the eaves and in the shady woods hanging on into late April. Just the same the ice went out of Pennamaquan Lake on schedule this year, April 19th, which means the sailboat went in the water at sunrise on April 20th. Other welcome signs of Spring: Clintonia blooming, violets, bluets, garlic shoots in the garden and sunny warmth. Hard to believe that a 50 degree day feels like a heat wave and we're down to just two layers of clothing instead of three or four. Next thing you know the scythes will be out and mowing. Yes, we are always grateful for a Springful May but more so this year.

During May, June & July Scythe Supply will participate in several workshops and Field Days within Maine. This is an opportunity for a visit to The Pine Tree State and take part in a mowing workshop:

May 31st, Saturday: Small Farm Field Day at Maine Organic Farmer's & Gardener's Association, Unity, Maine Fairgrounds. 9:00AM to 4:00 PM Scythe Supply will be available for mowing and sharpening instruction. Anyone is welcome to join us as early as 7:00 AM to help mow the berm of the amphitheater @ the Fair grounds. This is an annual event which welcomes all levels of mowers. Come join us!

June 13th & 14th Friday eve and Saturday morning Cobscook Community Learning Center Trescott, Maine we will give a hands on workshop on sharpening and mowing techniques. Participation is limited. Contact CCLC (207) 733-2233 or register online.
