blade measure

Scythe blades are traditionally measured in a straight line from tip to heel (the back of the tang). This dimension given in inches or centimeters does not represent the length of the cutting edge. The length of the cutting edge measured in a straight line from tip to beard is about 3 inches (8cm) less than the blade's traditional measure.

Scythe Supply uses the traditional measure in describing our blades. These blades are handmade so allow for a +/- tolerance in any of the measurements that we give.

1 inch = 2.54 cm.
1cm = .3937 in.

inches x 2.54 = centimeters
centimeters x .3937 = inches
